Editor’s update No. 2: Wow, that was a heck of a game. The Eagles stunned the Patriots, winning by a final score of 41-33. The point spread had the Patriots as 4.5-point favorites, but instead, the Eagles won this game outright. They were at +176 on the moneyline, and I imagine plenty of Philly fans were betting on that. A lot of money came in on the Eagles early in the Super Bowl week, so it is safe to say Las Vegas was not pleased with this outcome.
Davis and Cousins were on pace to become the first teammates ever to each average 25 points and 10 rebounds per game when Cousins went down with the season-ending injury on Jan. 26. The Pelicans were sixth in the West at that point and climbing in the standings. Cousins was averaging 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. According to ESPN Stats & Information, over the past 50 seasons, only four players averaged those numbers for an entire season — and all four were named MVP.
The highest-rated Super Bowl of the past decade featured the Patriots and Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 49. That game finished with a 47.5 rating and an average of 114.4 million viewers. Ratings have declined each of the last three years, with this year’s down three years after slight increases each of the previous two seasons.
There are many theories and guesses as to why the NFL’s ratings are going down, some more valid than others. But even if fans are tuning out of the regular season and playoffs, the Super Bowl remains the one event guaranteed to do huge numbers. That was true once again in 2018, even with the slight decline.
Ahead of her anthem, per usual, people were betting on her singing it for over two minutes, -150, and under two minutes, +110. You could even bet on her hair color, or if she’d be airborne!
Pederson also said that there’s a reason he’s kind of a hardass coach. It’s because this is the payoff.
You guys get on me a lot about dress code and practice and doing things. Well, guess what? It’s for this moment right here. For this moment, Pederson said. It’s the discipline that it takes to win this game.
For casual football fans who just want to enjoy the game while hopefully making a quick buck in the process, squares should scratch that itch just fine.
Another common way of playing is to split the pot four ways and hand out 25 percent each, depending on the score at the end of every quarter. You could also do 50/50 based on the halftime and final scores, or hand out pot increments based on every new score, or any other random variations your party can come up with. Since there are no hard-and-fast rules, the only limits are your imagination.
